NextRead is a small app made by a small team. This policy is written in plain English because we'd rather you actually read it than scroll past it. If anything below is unclear, write us at [email protected] and we'll fix the wording.
The short version
- Your shelf — the books you save in NextRead — stays yours.
- We don't sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train AI models.
- We collect the minimum needed to run the app and to know whether it's working.
- You can delete everything by deleting the app.
What we collect
Your shelf. The books you add and the platforms you've connected (Kindle Unlimited, Libby, Hoopla). Stored locally on your device and synced to our servers only if you opt in to iCloud backup.
Your library card details. Stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. We never see them, and we can't.
Your email address (if you join the launch list). Used to email you about NextRead. Not shared, not resold.
Diagnostic data. Standard iOS crash and performance logs. No identifiable shelf data is attached.
What we don't collect
- Your name, age, address, phone number, or location.
- Your reading history, ratings, or notes (NextRead isn't a tracker — there's nothing to log).
- Anything from your Goodreads account beyond the public Want to Read list you point us at.
Goodreads
NextRead reads your public Goodreads "Want to Read" shelf by fetching the public profile page. We don't authenticate with Goodreads, we don't sign in as you, and we don't write anything back. If your shelf is private, NextRead can't see it.
Affiliate links
If you choose to buy a book through NextRead's "Buy on Amazon" link, we may earn a small commission via the Amazon Associates program. This costs you nothing. We never recommend purchase over free — purchase is always last in the priority stack.
Subscriptions and payment
NextRead Plus subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy covers that side of the transaction.
If you give us your email — through the website or in-app — we use Mailchimp to send it. You can unsubscribe in one click from any email. We don't add anyone without an explicit signup.
Children
NextRead isn't designed for, marketed to, or intended for users under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from children.
Your rights
You can ask us to show you, export, or delete any data we hold about you. Write to [email protected] and we'll respond within seven days.
Changes to this policy
If we materially change how we handle your data, we'll update this page and email subscribers before it takes effect. The last-updated date at the top of this page always reflects the current version.
